Twibble Desktop

Twibble Desktop is a twitter client for Mac and Windows built on top of the new Adobe AIR platform. You can download twibble here. In the sidebar you find some screenshots of twibble mobile and twibble desktop at flickr.

Features include:

• support for several profiles: twibble desktop allows for several profiles which are presented in a tab view (rather than separate windows)

• integrated timeline: Tweets and direct messages are displayed in a single list sorted by date. tweets, @replies and direct messages are presented in different colors.

• location awareness: you can see with a single click where your friends are in Google Maps. twibble desktop also understands GPS positions sent by twibble mobile

• Cover flow view: In addition to the standard list view you can display your tweets in an iTunes like cover flow view.

• automatic update: You will be notified when a new version is available. You can upgrade with a simple click

• keyboard shortcuts: twibble has keyboard shortcuts for the most important twitter functions. You can flip through the list like in other list based applications.

• On Windows twibble minimizes to the systray

Toro

Toro is a Twitter client that is made to be simple. Toro is currently using an experimental Twitter client library that removes the Twitter API limit. Here’s the direct link for linux users: http://www.gen-6.com/toro/release/Toro.air

Apprise Reader Offers Twitter Integration

Apprise Reader is an Adobe AIR application that lets you keep up with your RSS feeds from your desktop. In addition, the app has both Twitter and AIM integration which lets you forward the stories you want to share to either your AIM account or your Twitter feed.

Tweetr

Tweetr is an Adobe AIR app for both Mac and PC which lets you send files to your friends by drag-and-drop. The app will provide a short URL to send to your friends. There’s also a built-in webcam feature if your computer has an integrated cam it can use.

TweetDeck

TweetDeck is a desktop client for Twitter built with Adobe AIR whose customizable interface lets you view updates across numerous columns instead of just the usual one column view found in clients like Twhirl. You can also use TweetDeck to build groups in order to track the tweets from friends, acquaintances, or competitors.

Birdy 1.0

For heavy-duty Twitterers, it would be hard to give up the highly useful Twhirl, but just for fun there is now Birdy 1.0. This AIR app is a little blue bird that sits on your desktop and (literally) tweets your Twitter updates.

twhirl is another Twitter client running off of the Adobe AIR package, which makes it possible to run the same code on both Windows and Mac. Twhirl’s list of features includes the following:

Spaz

Another Adobe AIR application is Spaz. The app is an open-source client that works on Mac, Windows, and Linux. The interface has tabs for your timeline, direct messages, replies, and a list of your followers and those that you follow. You can download Spaz for free here.

Snitter

Need a Twitter desktop app? Snitter is an Adobe AIR app that works on both Mac and PC. The app comes with lots of built-in themes and gives you access to all of your Twitter info, including your tweets, your replies, direct messages, and archives), all of which can be accessed via keyboard shortcuts. The app also offers a lot of features, like an auto-updating tweet list, highlighted messages sent to you via @ syntax (and chirps), ability to clear or refresh current list of tweets, filter friends list by name and screen name, adding favorites, auto-login and much more.
